Daring to Defeat Diabetes Girl Scout Patch Program

This patch program was created to increase girls’ who particate in Girl Scouts understanding and knowledge of diabetes. More than 29 million people have been diagnosed with diabetes, and by 2050, one in three persons will have diabetes; 79 million Americans have pre-diabetes. Alabama ranks in the top five with regard to the prevalence of diabetes in the state. This program focuses on education and awareness by promoting ways to prevent the disease through exercise and healthy eating, recognizing risk factors and symptoms, as well as supporting research and treatment for those with diabetes. This patch is active in 5 states; Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi.
